Sophie is an artist living and working between Kent and Bristol
Graduating from Cardiff School of Art with a BA (Hons) in Ceramics in 2014, Sophie was the first recipient of the Regina Lasker Prize and was awarded a full scholarship to study at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.
Sophie won a year-long graduate residency at Fireworks Clay Studios developing her work and exhibiting nationally. She exhibited at the 2015 National Eisteddfod, winning the Y Lle Celf Art CASW Purchase Prize.
In 2017 Sophie was part of the Crafts Council Hothouse programme, a winner of Future Lights: Ceramics and its Dimensions and has since exhibited her ceramics internationally.
Sophie received a Griffin Scholarship and a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) scholarship to study at the RCA in 2019. During her first year of study, Sophie transitioned from a purely ceramics practice to casting in glass, developing a new material-led methodology to explore colour and form. When the pandemic struck in 2020, Sophie took a leave of absence form her studies to focus on saving her business. She returned to the RCA in the autumn of 2022, completing her Masters in Ceramics and Glass in 2023.
Sophie was awarded a Corning Museum of Glass Scholarship and will be attending a two-week course in New York with Jessica Loughlin in July 2023.
